Schedule a meetingHow does ADP to Viewpoint Vista work?
We use ADP's API and our own framework to maintain, orchestrate, and monitor data integrations.
On the Viewpoint Vista side, our approach depends on how Vista is deployed. Trimble Construction One cloud-hosted Vista customers are eligible to purchase the Vista API, a bidirectional REST API, and we have multiple architectures available for on-premises Vista environments.
After data is pulled, we synchronize the two data systems following the rules your business needs. Once the integration is built, we monitor, fix issues as they happen, and ensure data reliably moves from ADP to Viewpoint Vista.
What about getting everyone on the same page in HR and IT? What's the project plan look like?
Getting the left hand to know what the right hand is doing in business is complicated. At AutoIDM, we have established a proven process to make sure everyone in your business is on the same page. The ADP to Viewpoint Vista (and our general integration process) is adjusted depending on your needs, but it follows these main points.

What is ADP?
ADP is one of the largest providers of payroll, HR, and workforce management software, used by businesses of every size. From an integration and IT perspective, ADP is the system of record for user accounts and worker identity.
What is Viewpoint Vista?
Viewpoint Vista is Trimble's construction ERP for mid-to-large contractors. It brings accounting, job cost, project management, HR, and payroll together in one system, connecting the back office with the field. From an integration and IT perspective, Vista holds the employee and user records that need to stay consistent with your HRIS. Some of the data that your HRIS owns will need to be entered into your ERP system so costs and accounting are tracked across your business.

Can I do this myself instead of paying for your service?
Yes. Writing, orchestrating, monitoring, and maintaining your own ADP to Viewpoint Vista integration is possible. Here are some pointers.
Pull data from ADP: Review ADP's API documentation here. Plan on setting up API access through ADP API Central. ADP issues OAuth 2.0 client credentials paired with a signed certificate. At AutoIDM we use a regular HTTP client library, specifically Python's requests library. Once you have data from ADP, you need to get it into Viewpoint Vista.
Match up accounts: Once you've got worker data from ADP, you'll need to match it up to Viewpoint Vista employee records. This can be done by tracking an external ID or fuzzy matching on name or email address.
Map data and push to Viewpoint Vista: Your options depend on how Vista is deployed. Trimble Construction One cloud-hosted Vista customers are eligible to purchase the Vista API, a bidirectional REST API. Review the Vista API developer documentation and Trimble's Vista API documentation resources. For on-premises Vista environments, reach out to Viewpoint support about the integration options available for your deployment. Either way, you'll need to figure out record lifecycles: what happens when workers join, leave, change names, etc.
Operationalize: After you've got the logic figured out, you'll want to set up monitoring to catch errors, alerting to let your team know when something requires their time, and training for the technicians who will be responsible. You'll also want to educate your HR and business teams about what to expect and how to get support.
Does doing all of this yourself seem like something you shouldn't be supporting? That's what AutoIDM is here for. AutoIDM is a done-for-you service: no software to train on, no software maintenance, and no software configuration your team needs to worry about.
